About the event
A paddock paradise, sometimes referred to as a track system, caters to a horse's fundamental needs on a day-to-day basis. In the equine world, there is an epidemic of conditions linked to the way we keep our horses, such as Laminitis and EMS, and owners are understandably becoming more and more confused and frustrated. If you're interested in learning about alternative methods to keeping horses, managing a medically complex horse or providing a more natural lifestyle for the health and wellness of your horse, then this is the clinic for you.
This clinic is designed to break down the 'what, how and why' of species appropriate living into small, manageable chunks of information, distributed throughout the day. We encourage all of our attendees to ask as many questions as they can, providing a safe and non-judgemental space for owners to express their concerns or expand on their knowledge. We aim to dive deep into the fundamentals of paddock paradise track systems, sharing past and present rehabilitation cases and the 'before and after's of a change in diet, management or lifestyle.
The topics we will be covering:
- What is a paddock paradise track system?
- The 4 pillars of the paddock paradise
- Understanding what a species appropriate diet and lifestyle is
- Signs the horse's diet isn't species appropriate
- Identifying problem areas in your horse's health and understanding why they occur
- Understanding grass
- Adlib hay and movement for weight loss, gain or management
- Salt, feed and supplements
- Herd living, enrichment and mental health
- The importance of movement and how to encourage it
- The hoof, barefoot and shod horses, the natural trim
- Identifying common shoeing or trimming issues
- The benefits of a paddock paradise track system
Ideal for owners struggling with:
- Laminitis & EMS
- Arthritis, stiffness or swollen joints
- Obesity, weight loss or poor muscle
- Poor quality hoof horn, chips, splits or cracks
- Reoccuring thrush or abcsesses, contracteed heels
- Grass-related behavioural issues
- Anxiety, boredom or stress related behaviours
- Ulcers or reoccuring colic
- Going or staying barefoot
The day begins at 9.30am and ends at 4.30pm at our ridden livery based in Newport, Shropshire. However, please note that the clinic may run over. Lunch is not included, but there will be tea and coffee refreshments available, as well as some cake and treats.
Please note, we are purposefully keeping the clinic to a small number of people, so our attendees can get the full experience out of the day. We offer a non-judgemental place for owners to ask an unlimited amount of questions. If you would like details for nearby accommodation, please get in touch.
